Default Simple Q...BOM Insertion into inventor

    Good Morning
i have used inventor as a sheet metal fab program before and done some assemblies but I have never got real deep into it. I have a project now that I need to use the BOM portion of this. Can anyone give me a how to sort of thing on how to do this?? Ive tried reading the help files and its getting me no where...im also only running the trial or professional for now but i'd think it'd do everything the full version will do

    Thanks!

The BOM does not go into the drawing. The BOM exists as its own entity. For items you want from the BOM on the drawing, use the Parts List command and customize the columns that you want. In the future when you have purchased the software you will probably set up a template of styles so you don't have to modify it each time. If you wish to view the BOM and export it to Excel or otherwise you can access it in the Assembly environment and also the Drawing Environment by right clicking on an assembly and selecting it.

Ok, i saw some drawings that actually said bill of material in the top of them, can you customize that as well? Because I hadnt noticed where to do that yet. I did find parts list so at least I was in the right area.

Yes, the column Title in a Parts List is customizable. A lot of users use Parts List synonymously with BOM.
