Default Room Tags in Revit MEP 09

In 08 when you copy/monitor a linked file there is an option to copy the room information (to place room tags). In 09 there is no option to copy the room information when using copy/monitor. Is there an easy way to copy the room information so that room tags will automatically come in with the room name/number?

2009 uses spaces now, which links information from rooms in the arch model to it. You now need to use a space tag (and place spaces) in your project.

You will also need to manually place spaces in each of the rooms individually before you can tag them.

Which I might add, that you can do inside of the HVAC Zone editor, for a streamlines workflow. I have a blog entry on this subject.

We modified the default Space Tag to show the "room" name and "room" number. The default tag wants to list the "space" name & number, the "room" info is added automatically from the architectural link.

Also, is there a way to adjust the MEP tramplate so that any Revit links are automatically "room bounding"?

For performance concerns, no. You will need to enable that functionality for each link.

I'm trying to understand this. So is there a way to show the architect's rooms and room numbers in REVIT MEP via linked file?

Or does one need to manually type the room name and room number into EVERY space object?

If this is the case then, how does Revit MEP 2009 keep track of when I change a room name or a room number in the architectural model? One needs to update this manually inside Revit MEP 2009 by renaming the space object???

The spaces still see the room name/number. When you create a tag you can use a label of those parameters and not even bother with space name.

Space name/numbers only seem to have a use in places where a room is divided into multiple space, or potentially in a plenum or something.

That and when using the Heating and Cooling Loads tool because the Space data, not room data, is what is displayed there.

Figured out a great way around the Room Tag issue:

Edit the Space Tag in Familt Editor:

Click the actual Tag itself (it should turn red", then

Click "Edit Label" button at the top menu

Add Room Name and Room Number, Area, etc. parameters to the Space tag

    Delete the "Space Tag" parameter

    Viola, Room Tag!

You'll still need to add a Space Object to each room though.
