Default Sweeping Closed Polyline around a Helix

OK, I give up. I have tried every way to do this, and it just won't work. In fact, Autocad help says that this is the way to make screw threads, but I can't get it to work.

I create a helix, then create a closed polyline in the cross section of a screw thread, and then try to use the sweep command to make the thread. No dice. All I get is the message "Unable to create swept solid."

    Any ideas?

I tried to make a helix and it didn't work for me either. I don't have all day to play around so gave up.

I made a helix, then made a simple triangular profile and it swept. It took a few seconds, but it did work. Maybe the profile you are using is too large to sweep (or the helix is too small)?

dzatto, That is just what I tried to do. For some reason it doesn't want to work. I know I've done it before, and seem to remember that I had trouble that time, too.

I guess I'll just keep at it.

    Thanks for all the responses!

Yeah, it took a bit of working to get it done, and it still looked like carp!
Why do you need a 3D screw? Would a 2D one work for you?
