Default Layout is B&W, Model Space is Color - Why?

An existing file opened, editted and was plotted using a B&W ctb file in first 2009 and then in 2008 AutoCAD is only B&W in the layout (like a perpetual B&W plot preview - a clue?) The model space shows the true entity colors.

What gives??? Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

    Thanks,

    Clint Hill
