Open Dialogue box won't display

When I select the open command from the toolbar or type in command (acad 2009) the dialogue box doesn't show up. You cannot do anything until select esc to get out of the open command. It is like the box opened but it is not displayed. I have checked both monitors and it appears no where. I have gone to single monitor same thing. I have filedia set to 1. Any ideas?.
