Default Newbie trying to break into the AutoCad world

hello, i am new to the forums and website, so this may be placed in the wrong forum. In any event, I am new the the AC world and would like to know where one goes to break grounds in the steep learning curve of the CAD world? I have a copy of AC 2009 mechnical and have a strong desire to learn with a financial problem that all but puts a stop to proper educational means. I am hoping that someone can point me into the correct direction, I am interested in designing parts for my jeep, etc. Computer skills are excellent along with networking skills, so if someone could give some much needed guidance I would appreciate it.

    Sincerely
    Aaron Tremblay

I'd also suggest some of Paul Aubin's books. I'm not sure if he has any for the person just starting out, but his books for users already familiar with CAD are excellent.

If you are breaking into cad on a professionall level you really need to invest in a vo-tech course. if you are just doing it for fun then the augi forums and atp courses are a great place to get your feet wet. Books are geate but a bit dry on the subject and you can quickly spen a lot of money on something that is supposed to be just for fun. If you need books, try the library, or paperbackswap.com is good for getting free tech manuals.

Paul Aubin 's book are for Architects users so I think is better to buy a book from
Alf Yarwood or a book from David Frey.

I can recommend Alf Yarwood's books as being for engineers not architects - also Trevor Bousfield's books.
