    Default Multiple coordinate systems

I have a project where I am producing the structural drawings in Revit and linking in all other discplinces as DWG files, my problem is that the Architect is using a different co-ordinate system from the national grid.

So far I have setup my co-ordinate system to the architects co-ordinates. But now I would like to have an additional co-ordinate system to setout some structural elements to the national grid.

I have used the shared co-ordinates quite a lot and I am familiar with how they work. And I have already read that it is possible to have to co-ordiante systems (most people seem to be looking more for the levels to change and not the entire x,y co-ords

I have tried to do this myself but things seem to have gone wrong, this is what I have tried so far

-Make a new location and set to current
    -Specifiy co-ordinates at a point

My co-ordinates are then correct to the national grid, but now all my linked arch drawings are not in the correct location. If I go back and change the location, it makes no difference

Can someone please give some advice as to were I am going wrong here? A 'white papert' on this would be great!

    Many thanks,

    Ben

    Default Re: Multiple coordinate systems

I think I may have a similar problem with grid systems as well. I've linked in the structural file which shows their grid system. But now I have two grids overlaid - mine and theirs. Since, we both need to have the grid in our models to be able to manipulate based on our views/sheets, we can't simply rely on one discipline to create the grid.

But if I want to turn off their grid, I can do so with view properties by turning off all annotation within the linked file. But I have to do this in every view and would have to do it everytime the model was updated. Gulp!

I've also considered making a View Parameter for the linked in file but since it is a shared grid system, if I go in and turn it off, it turns it off in both models.

Am I thinking about this all wrong? Can you help?

    Thanks in advance!
