Default Sloped beam system pick supports problem

I'm fairly new to Revit, so I might be doing something way wrong. I'm trying to create rafters on a hip roof using a reference plane at the bottom of the roof sheathing. When I go to sketch the beam system, the pick supports tool is correct when i pick the supports parallel to the rafters, but when I pick the supports that will actually support the rafters, the line created is not aligned with the support. I cannot get the line to align to the center of the support even if i use the align tool. I suppose this is due to the sloped reference plane. Is the line displayed correct, or is there an issue with picking supports when using sloped reference planes?

Have you turned on the 3D option in the properties of the Beam system.

You should have angle symbol show up next to the lines to show the direction the rafters are meant to go.

Otherwise you can create the Beam system based on a reference plane to acheive the rafters on the correct inclination.
