Instance parameter?

I have an instance parameter set in a family to control the height of an object on a wall. Within the family the parameter works but when i load it into the project and try to use the editor within property elements nothing happens. Does anyone have an idea why this might be?

Have you locked your solids to referance planes inside the family? It tends to work a lot better if you do it that way and control the referance planes with dimensions.
