Automatic selection of layers-partial open

Is there a way to have Autocad automatically select layers base on a saved view with layer snapshot when doing a partial open?

We are working on very large files coming from other users, and they contain blocks with enbedded layers. It is not easy to find all the layers that need to be opened during a partial open but itis relatively easy to create a view with a snapshot of the layers. However, in partial open, selecting the view does not automatically open the proper layers.

Any hints?

Is indexing turned on for the drawing you are trying to partial-open?

If at least laer indexing was not turned on during the save, then I don't believe partial-open will have any way to id the layers you want opened.

Both layer and spatial indexes are turned on.

I thought (from sometime in the past) that when using the layer index and the view name, if the view was saved with the layer snapshot, Autocad pre-selected the layers for you. In 2008, it does not that so you have to select the layers manually. That can be tricky at times.
