Default Door Frame with 4" Head

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can make a door that has a frame with 2" jambs & a 4" head. Keep in mind, I am pretty new to Revit. Maybe I am missing something . . . . . .

You need to modify a door family so that it has a separate parameter for the head trim height (if you're using the standard door family with trim on both sides). If you'll be having the same door type with different head conditions, you might want to make your head height an instance parameter.

You may be able to find a family that will work for you on www.revitcity.com

I seem to remember that there was one that had the option of a 4" head jamb. It was selectable from the properties of the door

My problem is, that my frame is a sweep. If I change the jamb width it changes the head width as well. My family has a head width set, but it still chamges with the jamb.

I believe we got some doors like this from RevitCity. It's a great resource.

I also use a sweep for my hollow metal door frames. However, I have a separate sweep for the head and for the jambs, which then have their geometry joined together, so that I control the head height independently.

In the family editor, you need to create each side and the head jamb as individual sweeps. Then join the geometry together. The sweep in the original family is all on instance. That's is why the whole thing changes when you change the width of the parameter in the elements properties dialog.

You can either edit the family or try revitcity. There are a couple. Try this one it is non-adjustable and for use with CMU walls.
Or this one which has parametric side and head jambs, and is adjustable

I understand now. Making separate sweeps was what I was thinking of, but I thought that there may be a better way.

Thanks for all of your help!
