    Default Elevation at bottom

    Hi!

We have a situation where we have tagged some isolated footings with the tag that shows elevation at bottom, and have then relocated the project up in z value by 200mm. The thing is that the elevation at bottom does not update, and now shows a value that is 200mm too low, in other words totally wrong. It seems that the tag is correct, as long as it only shows the elevation at bottom information from the properties of the footing. The footing family is not updating that value when you relocate. Anybody understanding what I mean, and has anybody else experienced this?

    Best regards
    Henning, Norway

The value can report either the shared or project coordinate. You will need to switch this in the tag family settings.

The same applys to other elements such as level lines.

Which object did you use for the tagging? A spot elevation? If so, select it > open the properties > Edit/New > Change the Elevation Origin property to the desired type.

The problem is when I tag an isolated foundation with the tag: Structural foundation tag with elevation. The tag gets the elevation from the dimension parameter elevation at bottom on the footing, and the problem is that this value does not update when I elevate the building in z direction.

This isn't a tag I have used, but looking at it now, it seems the parameter 'Elevation at Bottom' gives you a bearing level for the foundation based on the level that foundation is associated with.

So if the foundation is at Level 0, and it is 450 deep the bottom elevation will read -450. If the foundation is at Level 99.100 and the foundation is 450 deep, the tag will still read -450.

    See attached images.

I don't think this parameter actually reades the 'true elevation'

Does this really work for structural foundation tags? I've been trying to get a foundation tag to report the shared elevation for the "Elevation at Bottom" parameter, but I'm having trouble finding out if I can do that. I'm thinking since this a system parameter, I can't edit it.

I've attached a copy of the tag I'm using if anyone wants to take a look.

    Thanks!
