Exclamation Better Cul-de-Sac and Knuckle routines

I would like to see a routine that makes it easier to define a Cul-de-sac and Knuckles. I our case, a knuckle has a 12' offset crown that has a varying slope to the crown. Side slopes are either 1.8% or 2.0% and through the knuckle they change from the centerline to the crown. At 1/4 delta points along the centerline, the slopes from CL to crown are 1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0%, 1.5% and 1.0% respectively. I know I can define the transitions and force the crown to move over. But it would be nice to define a "Style" for each and simply apply that to the Object. Now you have to define a separate alignment in order to get the DTM to work, make sure you have your breaklines defined, and in the case of a CDS, "sweep" the section around the cul de sac in order for the surface to be correct.

Question Re: Better Cul-de-Sac and Knuckle routines

    Mark,

I'm curious if over the past year you've found a better way than what you outlined with respect to knuckles? In CD3, I thought I had it working with corridors and lane transitions, however it still approximates the curve with tangents, and even with sections every 2', the resulting surface rarely gives me correct top of curb grades, etc.

    Thanks,
Aaron (you can call me Eric as I called you Michael... sorry!)

    Aaron,
For CDS this is the approach I use listed in this Thread
