    Question Long Room (Names)

We have a need to show our room names in the tag on a floor plan on two lines.
We use the Autodesk supplied room tag now, attached to spaces.
Is this hard (possible) to do? We still want the names to show on one line
in the ADT 2004 schedules as they do now.
Having them go to 2 lines on the plan, when necessary, will
make for a better "read" in small rooms.

    Thanks
    Dick

    Hi Dick

Please note I've *moved* this thread from the AutoCAD Customization Forum to this one as I believe it would be better served here.

    Thanks, Mike

You may want to take a look at a post I made towards the beginning of June 2003 in the ADT Content newsgroup:
    http://discussion.autodesk.com/threa...hreadID=154195

A sample setup using the new formula properties allows the user to enter room name information in two separate properties [only use the second one for one-line room names]. A third property that automatically [no user involvement, just a formula] concatenates the contents of the two room name properties is included, for use in schedules. Included in the ZIP file are modified versions of the out-of-the-box Imperial room tags that include the modifications needed to display the revised properties along with a sample file that contains the revised Property Set Definition and a Schedule Table Style that displays the single-line property. There is also a rather long-winded README file that attempts to explain what was done, to aid in the reverse-engineering process.

Download the file from the fourth post in the thread.

    David,
I have read these posts and I followed the link back to the one with the multiple room names because we run across that problem occasionally. I followed the instructions on how to get it to a tool palette but when I do that it turns into a block and not a custom command any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Are you placing the tag's content file somewhere in your AEC Content directory structure? If not, you will not be able to access it from the Custom tab of DesignCenter.

If so, are you creating the tool by dragging the content file from the Custom tab of the DesignCenter? If not, you will not be creating an AEC Content tool.

    WOW,
I have been ready to tear apart my computer because of this one (of many) items that have been eluding me. Thank You for pointing me in the direction that I needed to go. Once I figured out where the AEC design content was located I dumped the couple of custom commands that I have created into the folder and now it works. Again Thanks.
