    Question Training new employees

I work for a small Architectural, Engineering, Interior design firm. I have been the CAD Manager for only 8 months. We have two new employees about to start and the Owner of the company wants me to train them and make sure they are up to speed before he trows them into production.

My question is, what are the best materials to use to teach them how to use Project Navigator? We are using ADT2006 and I know Project Navigator pretty well. Should I just sit with them and show them everything they need to know?

Education is a road to prosperity.

If you are on Subscription (and you might not be given that you are still running 2006) there is learning content that serves as a pretty good intro to PN. You can then follow that up with personal instruction.

Being a new employee can sometimes be quite overwhelming - having to learn the way the company operates, new cad systems, procedures and standards. Usually when I have situations like this I would put together a quick Tech-note describing the basic methodology of how the company uses PN. For now they only need to know the essentials on how you use it and later they can involve themselves in learning the greater functionality.

A Technote just needs to be a few pages describing the process - it is evidently much more likely that people will use it if it is short and concise rather than being a novel.

So I would suggest that you sit with them initially, work through the system and leave them a copy of your tech-note for their own reference.
