    Exclamation Sometimes, Gaps don't work!

Shouldn't the Inside Gaps and Outside Gaps be controlled in one location only? Isn't the gap option controlled in the "Mechanical Settings"? Well, on some projects it works, on others it doesn't.....it seems to be a BUG!!!!!

Is iT? Has anyone come across this?

What's weird is that even when they are set to be more than 1/8" (I even tried 1/2"), pipes and ducts don't show Gaps....but if I select 1 of the ducts, or pipes...then the gap is evident....but the moment I de-select, the gap disappears....and when it plots...it's also not present....

Is it a bug? or is there a secret 'thang that will make it magically work?

    Seriously, it is frustrating....

sometimes hidden, sometimes wireframe....neither setting makes a difference....multiple projects, but not everytime.

Are you using the "Thin Lines" setting?

    yes, thin lines

but also thick lines (or the object style definition) btw, they print without gaps....

I am quite sure that it isn't a user error....at least not as silly as wireframe or thin lines.

I take it that gaps always, always work for everyone?

My opinion is its a bug in the software, I cant get it to be consistent either. Some ducts will break under others and other ducts don't break at all. I have noticed this seems to be due to not having the proper print drivers for the software as it displays fine. This is a huge problem for me as I cant stand to issue drawings that make no sense because the ducts are merging. Autodesk needs to fix this with a patch, this should not wait until next years version. I talked to OCE tech support and they have been having tons of complaints/problems with this also.

If it is indeed a bug that we can reproduce, then I agree here. I was simply trying to narrow down user error from the equation by asking about the various settings that could be influencing the behavior. This is the sort of thing we "drop everything" and fix, if this is indeed an issue, make no mistake about that.

My problem is different than Steve's. For me it won't show properly and it won't print.

When I select the object, the gaps are visible, but when I de-select the object, the gaps disappear.

I checked the obvious: MEchanical settings for gaps, phases, visibility graphics, thin/thick (although that shouldn't matter, because it doesn't affect prints), wireframe vs hidden, even checked to make sure 1 pipe/duct was at different elevation, View Range)

I will try to find more time tomorrow to investigate, but it is definately not right....it should be controlled only by the mechanical settings' inside and outside gaps...
