Unhappy Blocks not available for insert

I'm using 2007. I've created a folder that holds all my blocks. I found that I need a new one similar to another that I've got, so I opened the one and did a "save as" for the new one. I changed all the pertinant information and saved. When I go to insert that new block into another drawing via the "Insert" dialog box, the new block isn't listed! HELP!!

Are you choosing "Browse" from the insert dialog box to browse to the correct folder?

If you are just using the pulldown to the right of "Name...: you won't see any files in any directory - you will only see blocks that exist in your current file.

If you're choosing "Browse" are you certain that you are browsing in the correct directory and not one that is similarly named?

Yes, I'm using browse, and I've made sure I'm in the correct folder.

Another thing is, that I made some other modifications to the similar blocks (in this case, it's different sizes of circuit breakers with attributes for BOM purposes). When I go to my main drawing and try to insert those blocks, the modified attributes don't change. I've made sure those blocks aren't anywhere on the drawing and purged so they don't show up in the pull down.

    I'm loosing hair rapidly....

If you use the drop down list you won't see the files. If you "Browse" you should see the files. (The same applies to the modified files.)
    Do you see other files?
If not, check that Windows Explorer/My Computer are working.
If they're not working reboot the machine.

Can you see the missing dwg file(s) if you browse to the folder with Windows Explorer?

Are you being prompted to overwrite the original attributed block name when you attempt to insert the updated block?

What version of Windows are you running?

Yes, I can see the files with Explorer. In fact I can OPEN them as drawings. They're just not listed when I used the Browse button.

Are you being prompted to overwrite the original attributed block name when you attempt to insert the updated block? No

What version of Windows are you running? Windows XP SP3

I can duplicate that exact configuration here (XP SP3 and AutoCAD 2007 SP2 - I'm assuming that you're running SP2) with no issues.

Sorry to ask yet another background question but in an effort to make sure that we're comparing apples to apples and for better troubleshooting efforts, could you post a couple of screen captures showing the non-working steps?

As an example: attached are screen shots of the steps that I am referring to (I believe that you are referring to the exact steps).

Image 1 = the AutoCAD Insert Dialog with the browse button highlighted
Image 2 = this is what I see when I choose "Browse". For this example, I chose the My Documents folder
Image 3 = a capture of Windows Explorer looking at the same folder.

    I hope this makes sense...
The first image is the insert screen (after hitting browse) with the file missing. The second is the open file screen with the file circled .

I was running SP3 on another computer, and it worked fine. That computer crashed (it was ugly....) and I had to reload ACAD onto a new computer that is also running SP3.
