    Default setting up pipeline

    Hi everybody,

I would like to inquire info on setting up and managing the pipeline for working in 3ds max.
I have been doing a lot of searching on the net but have difficulty finding good info.

I know you can setup a project folder,
I know i can edit the 3dsmax ini
    I know i can edit the plugin.ini
    I know i can set the maxstart.max
    et.c

But what i really would like to know is how to make everything work together so that all the files can easily be managed.
OK, this is a rather general question, but if everybody could just shoot some comments maybe we can fire up a good discussion on this topic and get a clear view of all of this afterwards.

What i aslo would like to know for example if there is somebody that can explain all the settings that can be made in the 3dsmax.ini file

ok enough questions, hope some people can shed some light on these topics.

    Thanks,

    D-Tang

    Default Re: setting up pipeline

What i have come up now for controlling max within the office:

    - create a batch logon file that will copy certain files by login to user local folder to update the following files:

    - 3dsmax.ini
    - maxstart.max
    - render presets

In this way every user will have a clean max with default office settings controlled by the ini file. When he starts max the maxstrat will assure that the new file openend is a standard office setting with layers and render settings etc.

I was wondering if there is also a way to make a template setup for different scenes.
For instance, setting a template for studio lighting or setting a template for urban moddeling or one for interior modeling and lighting etc.
Why is this not possible in max? In autocad u can easilly setup different templates.

Looking forward to hearing for anyone....

    best regards,

    D-Tang
