Just spent the better part of the day figuring out how to export this data and then import into UDA for a contractor. This was very useful!
As for step #3 it is BEST if you leave these settings. You will get some weird things if you start messing with that.
Only a pleasure. Yeah I know about step 3 but then again I felt that maybe someone will actually figure out how to effectively implement step 3.
Thanks for the tutorial. This should save a lot of time.
I'm not able to get the update to happen, though. Maybe it's because I'm not too good at Excel.
Where do I save these files? Do I need to save the .TXT after I import it? Does the .xls need to be in a separate file, or does it have to be in a different worksheet in the same file as the .txt?
Thanks again
Ahah!
We're using Office 2007 & it looks like Microsoft is protecting us from ourselves again.
I hadn't notice that there was a Security Warning at the top of the Window saying:
Security Warning "Automatic updates of links has been disabled"I had to first Enable the update. Excel still didn't like that.
Then I had to:
Thanks, Microsoft, for protecting me from my own content in 7 easy steps
- Open the txt file
- Go back to the xls
- Click on the Data tab
- Click on Edit Links
- Select the txt file
- Click on Update Values.
Maybe there's a easier way.
At least it didn't ask my "Accept or Deny?" (I'm still in XP)
I can see how that can be very frustrating. Personally still prefer to use 2003 and XP pro.
Why would I want to do that? You and Shuan do a fantastic work on your blogs at the moment and the only real issues I could cover family related. It wouldn't be worth it since families are pretty straight forward.
