Default Avoiding Bugs in AutoCAD 2008

I would like help compiling a list of buggy features in AutoCAD 2008 and any work-arounds. My goal is to compile best practices for our office so that we can create stable drawings.

My sense is that ref-edit is still buggy (had issues this morning). I am thinking of recommending that people always open an xref file from the reference manager rather than using it.

I also have the sense that xclip is problematic. Are viewports made from irregular polygon objects a better solution?

Feedback on these and discussion of others would be a great help!

I hate ref-edit. I'd definately recommend opening the Xref. To make it easier, set your double click so it opens the Xref automatically. That's how I have it set up, works like a charm.

I don't xclip too often. I do know that vports made from polygons have issues also. Some fonts won't show up in them.
Why is it called common sense when it is so rare?

We XClip all the time in 2008. I cannot say that I've ever noted a direct issue with XClip.

I assume you already look at Catalyst.

I just found the Catalyst Bug Watch after my post. It was helpful. There are so many commands that seem unreliable, and any tips and tricks regarding what to avoid or strategies to employ to keep drawings from being buggy would be very useful!

Purging & Auditing on a regular basis are, of course, important. I know there are some lisp routines out there that do a "superpurge." Does anyone have a favorite?

Save the drawing before publishing. I have seen the session hang up and the user
is lucky if the print will finish without crashing the session.
