Cool Plot to File- Standard file navigation dialog box

When I turn the Plot to File option on and the standard file navigation dialog box comes up, it always puts Model or Layout after the drawing name(55-Model.dwf, 55-Layout1.dwf). Is there a way to just make it the drawing name (55.dwf).

    Autocad HELP:
"If the Plot to File option is turned on, when you click OK in the Plot dialog box, the Plot to File dialog box (a standard file navigation dialog box) is displayed."

    Thanks in advance.

There is no solution to this out of the box but it can be done with a custom application.

    Hi

Just to echo Jimmy's response -

Check out the following Technical Documents on the Autodesk web site under the Knowledge Base section -

ID: TS65964 Plotted file names are appended with -model or -<layout name>

ID: TS66040 - Layout name is added and file name is hyphenated when using plot to file option

    Have a good one, Mike

Thanks Guys, I guess I will have to just deal with. Is that something that can be changed in newer versions?

    Er.
2005 just plots to the filename like old versions did.
Having finally got used to the extended plot file names, now I'm irritated by the lack of them.
Sometimes you (Autodesk) just can't win.

I know I'm dragging up an old thread, but guess what John?!? They (Autodesk) have now put them back again!

One way or the other peoples! Stop stuffing around with it and make a decision!!

Ok, I've had my rant - now does anyone know how to get around this issue yet? Autodesk claim that there isn't a way, but surely someone has to have done it by now?!

Care to elaborate on this "Custom Application"?

I have put hundreds of hours into a custom document management application for our office, and it relies upon consistency in this specific area to allow it to work. Since we installed 2007 it has totally stuffed the system that I have constructed as a large number of our drawings have had the layout tab renamed.

I really don't care that this 'feature' has been reinstated, what I do care about is that it was not made optional!!

I'm sorry, but for me it smacks of "Change for the sake of change.", and frankly I find that incredibly anti-productive.
