    Default Anno Scaling & DB's

i had some discussions going (both referenced in that link) after the release of 2008 regarding the failings of DB's and Annotative scaling as implemented at the time. does anyone know if any of this has been resolved or dealt with in any way - officially or otherwise. my boss is suddenly on a crusade to prove to me that there is some hack that can be used to things like section marks can be used at different scales without having to include multiple instances or layering. i searched through the forums the other day and didnt find anything, but i may not have stumbled across anything.

the basic issue is that when a length modifier is applied to a DB that is also annotative the length modifier scales with the tag, leaving the end that is stretched / moved short. if adjusted for that scale it will be too long in a larger scale.

    thanks.

I'm using length in several annotative blocks without issue, unless I misunderstand your issue.

when an annotative DB has a stretch applied to it, which isn't uncommon for tags like a section cut - the stretch distance scales along with the annotative scale.

the attached file has a section marker at 1/8 with a 1/4 scale also on the tag. open it up and change the scale - the tail of the tag will scale (shrink) with the annotation scale instead of staying below the bottom line with just the head and the tail scaling in size.

Thanks for the sample. That demonstrated the issue to me all too clearly.

I see no resolution to this in 2009.
