    Thumbs up Re: Keyboard shorcuts

Nice summary of keyboard shortcuts! Can you please add this few other shortcuts that might be helpful:

    F1 - Help
F2 - Opening the AutoCAD text window
Ctrl + Tab - Switching between open drawings
Alt + tab - Switching between open programs

This basic shortcuts are often unknown to some users like what I observe in most of my officemates who are new in using AutoCAD.

    Thanks!!

don't do it. F1 set as help is annoying... i have my F1 key set as M2P because i accidentally hit F1 while hitting escape. ever since i changed it i don't have help pop up annoyingly often and unneccesarily. seriously, how many of us have poped the F1 key off the keyboard entirely or found some interesting way to pry it up enough so it wont depress. help can be found so many other ways why does it have to be stuck on F1?

    oh yeah... nice SC list

    Don't do what?
The statement that F1=Help is correct unless you have changed it.

isn't this an autocad shortcut scr? if so, then f1 can be remapped.

I think if OOTB Acad did not have F1=Help it wouldn't get Windows Logo (or whatever) certification.
It's not a technical thing it's a matter of compliance with what the rulemakers say.

i'm sure your right however, you can remap the f1 key through the Acad CUI.

    see attached image.

i think it's possible because it's a user setting. not a vanilla acad setting.

as you can see i changed it to M2P

seriously.... what am i missing here? am i lost?

Not so much missing, more ignoring.

    1 - All Windows applications have F1=Help.
    2 - AutoCAD is a Windows application.
    3 - AutoCAD has F1=Help.

Once you install the software, you can change anything that is changeable.

I've replaced all of my Function keys from F3 to F12 with object snaps. I hate having running object snaps because my system starts to slow down when a running osnap is constantly looking to snap to something. And having to click on an osnap icon on a toolbar (or Shift+Right-Clicking) is too time consuming for my taste. Also, since all of the default Function keys commands are available as buttons on the status bar, I don't lose any productivity time.

    Here is my set-up

F1 - Help (for some reason, I never accidentally hit the F1 key)
    F2 - Command window
    F3 - CENter
    F4 - PERpendicular
    F5 - INSert
    F6 - ENDpoint
    F7 - MIDpoint
    F8 - INTersection
    F9 - QUAdrant
    F10 - NEArest
    F11 - M2P
    F12 - NODe
