    Default Question Re: Autosave

Is there a way to trigger an autosave. I save all the time but it would be nice to be able to save a known backup copy without going through "save as" all the time. being able to use both features as a tool not just as safeguards. mine is already set to 10 mins. but it only autosaves 10 mins between saves.

Make a change to the drawing and wait a bit longer than SAVETIME.

    Why would you use "SaveAs"?
._SAVE creates a copy without changing the current drawing, and ._QSAVE twice in a row will ensure that the BAK file = the DWG file.

In addition to the above comments the .sv$ file the autosave creates disappears on a normal closing of AutoCAD. So your back up copy would be gone anyway.

...and to expand on that a bit more.... If autosave fired at least twice, and you have "bak" files enabled, then the autosave bak file will still be there after closing. Of course it will be one version behind the last .sv$.

I was thinking i might try to use the sv$ files as incrimental drawings. i'm trying to figure out how i can get around using save as and saving a new incrimental drawing. i think the lisp guys have figured it out for me. I'm tellin ya, that Opie never fails to come through.
