    Default Decal Help

Please help. I'm in the midst of a very important presentation and I'm having issues with decals. Before I applied the Web Update 2, I had no issues with decals rendering. However since I've applied the update none of my decals are rendering. I've recreated all of them - I've changed their file fomrate from png to jpg and yet I'm still having issues. Is there a setting change that I'm missing? I've even tried a new project and tried applying the decal to a blank wall and I'm still having issues.

    Thanks,

    Shawn

i have the latest update but have no issues with decals... i do know that using more than 6 decals can cause problems with revit... other than that, make sure you are selecting the correct surface (not under something), and then simply render... make sure the image is not so small it is lost in the decal.... may have to resize to a larger image otherwise..

    good luck.

I've checked my decals to make certain they are on the front surface and yet still can not get them to show. I've also tried this with a fresh project and a simple wall as a test and still have them same issue. I'm not certain if this should matter, but I applied the web update to the shipped media install of Revit instead of web update 1.

    Thanks again,

    Shawn

I uninstalled and reinstalled via the web update 1 plus the web update 2 patch and now I'm not having any issues with my decals. I'm assuming that there might be an issue with applying the web update to the box version of Arch 2009.

    Thanks,

    Shawn

    Hi,
My understanding is that you should apply WU-2, AFTER, WU-1.
I use the factory boxed set always to begin with and have almost 100% trouble free running since Revit 4.5, until 2009 and then had video card display driver issues (NVidia Quadro).
After installing WU-1 and a new driver, essentially fixed the issue.

I think the documentation advises the sequential approach doesn't it ?
It might be a silly question, but in VG are the settings appropriate now after the new build install ?

WU2 contains WU1 so there is no need to install both if you haven't already done the first update.

check your phases. Decals can have the existing/new/etc phasing. Be sure the camera/3d view is set to the proper phase to show decals. There is no limit to the number of decals that I am aware of.

    Scott,
sorry off topic, but thanks, I have not downloaded WU-2 so was going off a vague article I guess.
