    Default 3d labs wildcat vp990 pro

    Just installed the wildcat vp 990 pro and I had some trouble with the computer restarting for no reason. I just downloaded the most recent driver and so far so good, but it's only been 15 minutes and I haven't done much in CAD yet. I'm having another problem too; If I'm in paperspace and I zoom out so the layout appears as just a small rectangle in the center of the screen, when I pan the layout it "tears" the layout horizontally. What I mean is, if I pan the layout say..to the right, the bottom half of the layout goes where I want it to, but the top half takes an extra split second or so to catch up. Also, the layout "stutters" as I move it across the screen. Please forgive my total lack of computer lingo this is the best way I can describe what is happening. I have the card set for AutoCAD, and It just doesn't seem like it can handle it. Am I missing an optimal driver or setting somewhere that works very well with AutoCAD?

    I can't help you but the name of the effect is "video shear".

    Sorry.

    Maybe this will help. I snipped it from 3dlabs website.

    Troubleshooting - #AP-06

    AutoCAD 2000

    Soft Engine can't be used with AutoCAD 2000 or later

    Soft Engine can only be used with AutoCAD R14 or earlier. The Soft Engine optimizations are included in AutoCAD 2000 or later.

    The 3D performance is poor in AutoCAD 2000 or later

    You should enable OpenGL acceleration by starting AutoCAD 2000 and then go to the Tools/Options/System menu. Click on Properties and then Hardware. Under driver select Browse then choose wopengl6.hdi for AutoCAD 2000 and wopengl7.hdi for AutoCAD 2000i and later. A 3Dlabs custom driver is also available for AutoCAD 2000 for certain products (See the driver readme for more information about the custom driver). Please note that the custom driver is not compatible with AutoCAD 2000i or later releases.

    I have a Wildcat 7110 and have had worse performance than with
    a basic 2 monitor video card. Many crashes. Can't use hardware
    accelerated graphics. If its still under warranty, I'd suggest you
    return it.

    If anyone is considering buying this card, think again. Consider other options before this one. This card has been unstable for me. It has caused system crashes, I've had to turn off hardware acceleration because of problems. The drivers aren't written very well and the performance with AutoCAD 2005 leaves a lot to be desired. Go with Nvidia.
