    Default Level Annotaion Issue

Early in the project I had deleted the 2nd Floor level in Elevation thinking I wouldn't have a need for multiple floors. Well, the client has decided to put ina 2nd Floor. So now I still have a 2nd floor referenced but I cannot show a 2nd Floor symbol in elevation or section. When i try to place/rename a symbol as 2nd floor @ 12'-0" it says the level already exists. Is there any way to replace a level tag after deleting it?

    Question Re: Level Annotaion Issue

See if there is a 2nd Level Floor Plan View in the project browser, and delete it.

Now, see if the "mystery" level is now gone--it should be.

Then, go to an elevation view, and place a new Level, name it Level 2, or whatever.

    Did this work?

( I don't think it is possible to replace only the annotation for a Level.....)

    cheers.

hmm... So if I delete the Level Annotation in elevation, there is no way to "tag" the existing level with another level annotation? There has to be a way to relabel a level...

    Wink Re: Level Annotaion Issue

    Think of it like this:

The Level Annotation IS the Level--i.e. it is an intelligent BIM object, not purely
a 2D annotation, as in other cadd software.

    Cheers...

In fact, the views in the browser refer to the LEVEL objects in the model - not the other way around. So, you can have several VIEWS referring to one LEVEL object but you can't have one VIEW referring to several LEVELS.

So, you can delete all the VIEWS referring to a particular level and that level still exists.

However, if you delete a level - I think that the view with the same name is removed too (I am not in front of Revit now, so I can't check it at the moment) and some other view of the the views referring to that level may adopt its name (e.g. a ceiling plan view).

This may be a reason for an error (the name already exists) when you try to re-introduce a level and automatically assign the level's name to the newly created view.

I hope it makes sense what I tried to explain...
