Default Dell Laptop for AutoCAD Architecture

    Quick one (I hope...!).

I need a Dell laptop to run AutoCAD Architecture LT as a minimum, ideally Architecture 2009. Any suggestions (Dell only - corporate policy is only to purchase Dell)?

    Any suggestions?

This would be a minimum. If you have more money to spend I would upgrade the processor. I specced 4GB of RAM assuming you are going to be using Vista now or sometime during the lifetime of this laptop. If you are not using Vista you could go with 2GB as a MINIMUM. If your are not on Vista yet this is available with Vista downgradable to XP.

Jeff, many thanks for the feedback on that. Much appreciated.

We're keeping with XP at the moment but may go over to Vista as you suggest (although the consensus is to keep with what works!).

I've had another query aimed at me. Dell Tower PCs. Same spec as the laptop? Is there a 'ready-made' Dell Tower that would fit the bill perchance?

I would recommend similar specs on a workstation. Go the Small & Medium Business section on Dell's site and select workstations.

I did not see a pre-configured system that would meet your needs. I customized one, see attached.

They required me to select a monitor so I upgraded the cheap 19" to a 22" for $100.

Jeff, you're a scholar and, indeed, a gent. Many thanks for your help.
