I've also found that using page setups in the plot dialog make things very easy as well. I've included these page setups in my template files, as well as in my border drawings, so they are always there. It's a few more clicks (3 or 4 total), but it works nicely, and can be used with the publish command.

Yes.... If I could just get everybody to realize your point.

I walk around and see people picking plotters, CTB files, even picking a window when plotting a layout.... They just can't grasp named page setups... (yes, they are in the templates....)

Don't forget that page setups also work for the publish command. Want a full set on 11X17, no problem. Just go to publish, add all the sheets you need, highlight them all and pick the 11X17 page setup. Want it 24X36, no problem, just pick the 24X36 page setup.

I have the same problem here. Or, my personal favorite, I had a setting wrong in one of the page setups; instead of saying to me - hey, something is wrong, they just completely abandoned them and then of course, come crying to me when they forget to pick something and it doesn't work right

    Cool Re: Printing is easy

I've made a series of buttons that users can select for PDF, PLT, DWF, and hard copies.
Just 1 click and they can print anywhere, anything, anytime.

    Similar to Puterfix's setup.

I use a template file which contains all the pagesetups, then the button brings in that pagesetup, sets it current, then prints to the predefined destination. Then, the pagesetups reside in the drawing for use w/ Publishing multiple sheets. The PC3 files are all network based as well so that no one can overwrite them.

It drives me nuts when someone is actually going to the plot command.....I'm like just hit the button!!!!

    Guilty!

    Ignorance is no excuse though...

is there a resource somewhere that explains setting up Page Setups instead of layouts?

Actually, setting up pagesetups are quite easy. Simply type PAGESETUP, give it a name, and setup your plot just like you would normally setup a plot.

Yea, it's not really a matter of one vs. the other. A "Named Page Setup" is nothing more than a set of plot settings applied to a layout or model space (although page setups for PS and MS are not interchangeable).

As stated earlier, it's a good idea to set them up once in your template drawing(s), then you never have to worry about plot settings again. You can import them into existing drawings also.
