What is the proper way to put in General Notes. I haven't been able to find anything in Revit to lead you through it. I don't know if its a family you have to create or simply putting text on a sheet. Any advice is welcome.

For general notes you should create a new drafting view and type them out there. Drag and drop the drafting view onto the sheet. That way you can save that drafting view to your library as a separate file and use it on other projects.
Yeah that is how I have seen it done. My concern is that the text you place in the view for your notes is very very basic simple. In cad we used Mtext where we could use bullets and change text from one line to the next. Am I missing something with Revit or is the text part just not up to speed yet? Thanks!
Yes Revit's built in text editor is horrendous. I take it you haven't tried tab-indenting lines of text? It's maddening.
As a workaround, I use a Schedule Key. This way I can create as many tab spaces as I need and have it automatically reorganize the list with the sorting feature.
Outside this, I think Revit should have a Generic General Note schedule. I would also like to see some fields or new heading that would automatically populate this new General Note Schedule with the text from these new family fields. Our jurisdictions are getting increasingly picky and asking for specific notes and notes that are not applicable to be removed.
Just tried the text generator extension, it doesn't keep the spacing or the paragraph indenting. Yay.
