    Default Detail Component Manager

My Detail Component Manager has stopped working.? It allows me to place a part into my drawing one time and then when i try and add another part it just goes blank and will not allow me to select any other parts. Even If I open a new Drawing and try and use the Detail Component manager it appears to select the part but cancels at the command line and will not allow me to input into the drawing.???

    Multiple drawings or only one?
    Only one workstation or multiple.
You may want to try a quick repair.

    Ok
Are you pulling the detail components from your network or off individual workstations?
I guess I would check to make sure that you are pathing to the correct location.
If you recently installed some new adesk software, it may have messed with something.
Check to make sure that the components are actually there as well.
I'm guessing you've done that already.
Next step would be to re-install, but I know you don't really want to do that.
Anyone else have some better thoughts?

I don't really want to suggest that you try this, but it might work.
You could try to find all the detail component data & catalogs.
ie you could try to delete the details folder under C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\autodesk\adt 2007\enu\details\details (us) and replace it with the folder off the install cd.
I have a feeling that something, somewhere my have gotten screwed up in one of the .xml files. What I'm not sure of is if it's a problem with the content or ADT's attempt to find it.
    Just another thought.

I am having a similar problem. As I work in a file, the Detail Components just stops working. I will post a screen capture of the error that I get when this happens next time. the fix is to close out of my drawings and close out of ACA. I restart ACA and the same drawings and the Detail Components now works. It just seems to get hung up after working a for a bit. this has happened on files with very little drawing, in fact. I was just editing some text and it happened. It has happened to multiple people on ACA2010 and ACA 2011 (also XP 32 and 64 bit).
To be clear, the libraries are still there when it stops working, but the error message reports that it can no longer find it or something. Is there a default toggle or memory limit or something similar that needs to be set higher?

    Similar problem here.
    Inserting a compenent works fine first time, but the next time I choose a component, the routine cancels before I can pick a start/insert point (pasted from command line below);

"Start point [Left/Center/Right/Shift pattern] or Enter to pick:*Cancel*"

Opening a new drawing and trying again doesn't have any effect. Restarting ACA again allows me to use it once, and then nothing.

This is from a fresh standard install of ACA 2011 (nordic localisation) Windows XP 64, all files on the local machine.
(There is also ACA2009 with a remote DCM database on this machine - migrate settings was not used during the ACA2011 install)

    Any ideas?

It's a simple fix I have found. try opening your properties palette and then insert a component. BOOM! it works
