Default Inventor 2009 fails to subtract volumes

    Greetings everybody!

I hope you can help me because I'm in serious trouble.

I need to subtract two volumes from a cylindrical body. One of them is surface made by loft plus extrusion and revolution, them connected via derived part command and then stitched; and other is smaller cylindrical body made by revolution command.

I try to remove material form a large cylindrical body by apllying 'split' command. The trouble is that my two subtracting bodies do not work together. I can get either of them working independently, but when I try to apply another I invariably get failure notice. I tried everything I could think up, even recreating it from scratch. Nothing helped.

That means a real problem for me, because I need this model created. I remember doing similar things in Inventor 10 and everything seemed to be working smoothly, but 2009 is a trouble!

    Somebody please help!

I tried to subtract some generic cylinder lying immediately below the loft subtraction and it resulted in producing the zero thickness surface as you can see in the picture. Attempt to subtract same generic cylinder lying immediately above the surface results in failure.

Thanks for the offer of help! Unfortunately, I don't have this file close at hand and the moment.

I laboured to solve the problem in a way by using surface modelling. I trimmed the loft and revolution by each other, and then stitched it into single surface, with which I then split the solid removing the material. I'll be able to post a picture later.

Anyway, the design needs some improvement and I will rebuild it in a bit different way. I will report if the problem persists.
