Default What is the BEST CAD viewer for Non Cad Users

Hi All! Can someone tell me the Best in their experience of the best CAD viewer for those that do not have CAD on their computers?

I have used a few in my time, but would like your input.

Also, does anyone know of how you would access a shared drive at your work with your home computer? How would you get that link set up so One would be able to access the same information as you have at work on the shared directories?

    Thanks in advance.

If you're dealing with AutoCAD drawings, then your solution for a free viewer is Autodesk's Drawing TrueView by a long shot. There is also a generic viewer by the "B" company, but I doubt it handles the latest DWG files properly.

We used to have Voloview... many years ago... DwgTrueview kicks butt..

For remote access, I had my IT guys set up Terminal Services. It allows remote users to log in and see the network just as if they were sitting at a desk inside the office. They can also transfer files to their laptop, and print stuff out locally if need be.

Somewhat, but that is really a job for your IT team. It will involve new software as well as hardware (servers).

If by "Non Cad User", you mean a person who does not know CAD, then DWG TrueView is not the best option IMO. It's OK for viewing, but a person who does not know CAD is going to struggle plotting in TrueView.

Are you accessing your work network with a VPN?

VPN is Virtual Private Network. The best option for remote viewing regardless of the viewer used will depend greatly on your existing setup. Unless you plan to scrap what you have and start over then everything is on the table.
