    Default Excel OLE always comes in at the same size and is very large

    Anyone out there familiar with using OLE objects? I am trying to insert an Excel Spreadsheet in ACAD 2005 and it always comes in at the same size and is very large. Is there any modification features for this like scaling, stretching, zooming, etc? TIA.

    Hi Jeffrey

    Please note I've *moved* this thread from the AutoCAD General Forum to this one as I feel this particular Forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.

    Thanks, Mike

    Hi

    Check out the following Technical Document on the Autodesk web site under the Knowledge Base section -

    ID: TS21721 - Modify properties of OLE object

    +

    Below snippet is from DotSoft's AutoCAD 2005 Review -

    <snip>
    When using the PASTESPEC command, the Product Entities option now creates a table. If you are using Windows XP with the latest Microsoft Office, this does a much better job than previous releases but its still not perfect and there is no link to automatically update. On Windows 2000/Office 2000 the results are usable but bear little resemblance to the spreadsheet as all formatting is lost.
    </snip>

    Have a good one, Mike

    Yes, there are options to modify OLE objects. Is the problem that you cannot grip-select the OLE object after it is placed?

    No, the problem I have is when I want to modify the information- If I have an existing attached Excel sheet in a drawing and 'expand' the information listed on the sheet, the sheet will not show that additional information and AutoCAD does not allow me to view the entire sheet. I can grab the OLE from the grips and stretch it, but all it does is distort the view not allow me to view the entire sheet. Scaling the sheet is also an issue, sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.

    The nature of OLE prevents you from magically getting added info on the spreadsheet displayed in the OLE object. You need to either allow for added data by initially selecting a larger range in Excel, or deleting the old OLE object and relinking to account for the extra data.
