Unhappy Interior and Exterior Elevation Tag Issue

Working with these system families is very frustrating.

I have a drawing from a consultant in which selecting an interior or exterior elevation tag both give you what in a new Revit drawing would be the Interior tag. In other words, each comes up with a circle tag and each shows both the detail number AND the view name.

I would like to get the normal ones (square exterior and round interior and sheet name and detail no. only) into the project but can't figure out how to do this or even how to determine what the correct components are. I've looked under Settings/View Tags but can't see how Revit is differentiating between interior and exterior tags.

    Pashley,

Let's see if this will help you - Remember that Revit uses "Definitions" for lots and lots of settings, Elevations being only one of them. Let's reset the definition.
    1. go to a plan view and insert an Elevation mark (can be either one)
    2. select that item, and choose it's Properties.
    3. select 'Edit/new' in the upper right corner
    4. In the Type Properties - choose which definition (Building or Interior)
    5. Below, set the "Elevation Tag" setting to either the 1/2" Circle or 1/2" square
    6. The other settings (Callout Tag and Reference Label) are for other uses, but you can double check their settings here.
    7. Click Apply in the lower right corner
    8. You can go to the upper Type selector and choose the other style and set the settings the way you want them.
If you don't have a proper Tag loaded in your Project, you'll need to
    1. go to File> Load from Library > Load Family ....
    2. Navigate to the Imperial Library/Annotations
    3. and load the proper Elevation tag.... then repeat the steps above.
    Hope this helps!
    Kyle

How do you turn the view name off on the new elevation tags, so that just the drawing number appears on the tag?

    To continue with Kyle's soliloquy:
dwilk, go through Kyle' Step 4. Then notice what it says under "Elevation Tag"
Close that dialog box and go to
    Settings...View Tags...Elevation Tags.
Under Type, select the Elevation Tag Type you noted above
On this screen, you'll see a whole bunch of parameters.
You want to uncheck the "Show View Name"

Thank you very much. I had actually just stumbled across that right before your reply. Came back to post myself, but thank you.
