    Cool Revit/3dsMax

Post any questions you have here regarding using Revit models
    and importing into Max--for instance

FBX vs Autcad transfer/export, Mental Ray materials in Revit and Max, etc.

    cheers....

    Hi,

I don't know if it's just me or other have similar problems too?

I can't manage to transfer my model from RAC 2009 into 3DS Max Design well. When I open it in 3DS and try to render it, my materials and lights that were working well in Revit's rendering will not render in Max. Either I have it totally white (too much light) or absolutely black. And I am not talking about internal renderings - I try to do external only for now. I don't have any artificial (additional) external light sources and my "sun" is below my model too.

I am relatively new to Max and have only basic knowledge of this program, so any help is appreciated.

Your sun is below the model? That would be the first issue(?) Is the sun below, or just the target?
There are several steps you need to take to set up your rendering:
...make sure you have a sun as the light source.
...add a mrSky to your enviornment.
...make sure you are using mental ray as your default rendering engine.
...enable final gather and global illumination (a lot of settings here - I suggest you first do some of the many tutorials on the web for GI)
...adjust the EV (Exposure value) for your renderings using the mrPhotographic exposure system
