Default Does Revit see printer margins?

    Hi,
Noob question: Can Revit access and use my printer’s margins when setting up sheets and titleblocks? In ArchiCAD there is an option to Import Settings from Printer/Plotter that accurately returns the margins and sets the sheet extents to match the printable area. It’s very handy. In fact I used it to get the printable area to use when building a titleblock in Revit because I couldn’t find anything similar. Am I missing something? Thanks.

So are you just wanting to try to maximize the area of your title block?

Our office title block just has the top and bottom margins at 13/16", the right side margin at 11/16", and the left side (bound) margin at 1 3/16". It worked fine on our old HP DesignJet plotter, and it also works fine on our Oce TDS600 plotter and Canon color inkjet plotter.

Late thanks. I’ve had my head down with a deadline.

I printed a pattern and measured the printable area, evened things out a bit and added to the binding side. Not hard, just a bit primitive compared to other apps that can talk to printers directly.

    Cheers!

I'm still not sure why you were having trouble.

Is it because you were trying to get the largest titleblock possible that would fit within your printer's margins?

Yes, and see the actual available printable area. It was not hard to figure out so I can’t say I actually had ‘trouble’, I’m just surprised that it’s not a built-in feature as I’ve come to expect it from most any professional graphics program. Maybe it’s a Mac thing.

Heck, this has been in Autocad since I can remember. Printing functions could definitely do with some love in Revit.
