    Default content builder multiview part

    hi

    anyone can help me, please.

i got question about create a multi-view part,
Can we create our own custom type, custom layer key and custom subtype? (see the attachment picture)

because i need to create a pipe connector (flange adapter) which is at connector type.
but i cant find any connector type in the list.

and i cant choose other type, because when i create a pipe fitting schedule, it will total together (connector )with the type i had choose.

sorry poor English, hope u can understand
    thanks

    Sam,

You can have a custom Layer Key, but you cannot create custom Type or Subtypes. This was a bummer for me too.

    the problem is
now i put in valve category but when i create take off list the connector with be total together with valve quantity.

Sam, can you upload some screenshots showing what you are talking about - I am a little unclear as to what you are looking to do.

Why do you need such complexity in the part? You could easily model this parametrically without the bolts and other details. A complex model only leads to potential performance issues and that level of detail typically isn't required for Construction Documents.

You could create this as a Pipe Fitting with Part Type set to Connector, similar to what we do with our Pipe Adapters. You could then enable the AutoLayout flag and use it in your Routing Preferences if desired.

If you feel an MvPart is the better way to go, I would suggest using the Custom Part Type. You could then add a custom parameter in Content Builder or use Property Set Data to schedule it as you need.

At this time, it is not possible to alter the list of MvPart Part Types. The list is hard-coded in the application. We can add more to it for a later release if people let us know which additional ones they would like added. We're also exploring the possibility of making the list extensible in the future.

    Hope that helps,

    hi thanks for your suggestion,

but this connector must with the bolt together. if without bolt, i know that is easy to create in the parametric part. unfortunately i really need the bolt.

yeah, i think new release version must able to let people to add a custom part type. because a part from that there is a lot of different connector or piping fitting are difficult to create in parametric part.

if custom part type is really hard to make it, then i suggest the part type can have a new type example like (connector, piping fitting or pipe)

    thanks
