The required font is maybe missing on that machine, so the font specified in the altfont environment variable is used instead.

Paste this to the command line:

    (findfile "stencil.shx")

on both machines. What does each return?

Are you sure? The BAD one should return "nil".
If that's so, and you have copied stencil.shx to the (acad path)\fonts folder on the bad machine, close and restart acad on that machine. Acad only checks the available fonts when it starts.

So in one of your installations you have the font and in the other one not.. But you call the one with the font missing the good one, it is not. If you don't want to use that font you should change it in the dwg file.

Make sure the fontalt environment variable is set the same on both machines if you want it to look the same if a font is missing.
