Default When do you need to manually borrow elements?

Generally when you have a shared project file, as you select elements you automatically borrow them. However every so often, when you select some elements, e.g. – with curtain panels you sometimes need to manually click on the jigsaw puzzle (manually borrow the element,) or manually make it editable in order edit that element.
Does anyone know exactly when and why you need to do this in comparison to the normal automatic borrowing system?

Default Re: When do you need to manually borrow elements?

The only time I know of when I have to manually make elements editable (via right-click menu) is when I want to change the workset of multiple items. And I'm not sure why that is the case.

If you pick a single item and open its properties, you can just change the workset as needed. But if you select multiple elements and go to properties, the Workset field is grayed out until you either make those elements editable or make that workset they're on editable. After that, you can change the workset of all selected elements through the properties dialog box.

Same behaviour here. It is quite an annoying one too.
