Looking for a good, reliable (Free) PDF writing program

With so many sub-forums for so many different things, i got a bit confused trying to find the right section to post my question in... im sure mods will move it if they see it anyway.

I am after a good, reliable PDF writing program.
The DWG to PDF one that came with autoCAD doesnt give good quality PDFs, and the program i am using currently isnt great. The quality is good but everything else sucks (i.e. advertisments, difficulty in setting the prints up and more recently, just not working at all).

It has to be free as im pretty sure work wont want to shell out for it, and able to print A4 through to A1 plans of good quality.

Can anyone reccomend anything?

I've not heard anyone say anything bad about pdf995

I personally prefer CutePDF, which sports nothing more than pretty basic printer settings and a 'save as' screen. I'm not sure about support for multiple pages in one file, but if you want foolproof conversion of one drawing to one pdf file at a time then this does the work for you.

You generally get what you pay for. CutePDF is a good free one, but still lacks a lot.

IMO - spend the hour and a half's worth of billable time and get Acroplot.

I completely agree with R.K. Acroplot Pro can convert multiple drawings/layouts and concatenate into one pdf all with just a few clicks. A recent project with over 100 layout tabs spread out over several files was made into one pdf during a lunchhour. It can also output to image formats as well. Totally worth it; I cannot imagine going back.

I've been using a program from http://www.pdfill.com/ and have liked it so far. For writing it is as easy as the save as command. It also comes with a tool that allows you to combine, separate, rotate, crop, .... existing pdf.

Solidworks provides an excellent way to create a pdf output exactly like the last print (aka current plot settings)

For a while the only PDF creatin software used was PDFCreator.
Look it up on sourceforge.

Now there are some that prefer PrimoPDF.
