I want to place an ifactory member automatically, the selection would be based on a parameter value. Is this possible in inventor??
This functionality is present in other 3D cad software (pro/engineer)

I think what you might want is an i-assembly.

I've used an excel table's concatenate function to form the member name of an i-part or other i-assembly I wanted to use.

I'm not sure if there are other ways to do this, as company policy has shifted us away from using i-parts in favour of sketch-based parts and assemblies. If you need more help with this, I'll whip up an example.
