layer to layer ..viewport to viewport

Is there a way to let you turn layers on or off in different Viewports on different Layout tabs in a drawing. I want to be able to see the said layers in one viewport but not in another on a different layout.

This is achievable by saving a layer state associated with each tab,
the drawback is that as one switches tabs, on must restore the
associated state. This could be solved with some lisp, or even a simple macro.

Why not just double click inside the viewport and then freeze the layer in question? Or in the layer manager by freezing that layer on the current viewport column.

Use the freeze or thaw in current viewport feature. Just open the viewport and pick the layer you want to freeze.

sorry I tried to post an image but it didn't work. on the layer pulldown, it is the 3rd selection from the right for whatever layer you want. (The sun with a square behind it)
