Default Dividing line between 2 similiar materials in elevation

I have read Steve Bennett' 2006 solution but when I do the wall edit, material, edit display properties, other, and Merge Common Materials I still get the line in elevation and when plotting. I have checked both same adjacent materials and they both say "Merge".

Have I missed something or is 2009 different?

No it should work. How are the walls drawn? If there are 2 different walls in the same file, then the line will be there. If they are in 2 different files in project navigator, then it will erase the line. Another thing to look at is to go to the materials editor in the elevation file, and make it say merge in that file. If you do it to the 2 files after the elevation view has been created, then you need to do it in that view file also. At least that's what I've found.

You can also right click on the elevations, select Linework > edit and erase it manually. Or you can draw a line over it, right click the elevation and select Linework > merge and select that line, then make it an erased vector. Either way will work, but I prefer the former.

Thanks a lot for your imput. I will try the solutions out once I get caught up with the holiday backlog.

I like Project Navigator, but I seem to use a million constructs to be as flexible as possible. Now it seems that I will have to add even more.

    Thanks again.

How are you setting up your projects? What exactly do you design? There's ways to work around having a million constructs for every possible option.
