    Smile Assigning Materials

I created a 3D model of a Pool and an outdoor kitchen. I was looking to give it more of a presentation look (assign materials). Does AMEP 2008 have the materials and capabilities to allow this? When I go to the material library all I have is the “global” option, am I not looking in the right place. I am looking to represent marble, water, stainless steel, wood and some landscaping…

    Please help!

I'm using ACA, not mechanical, but it should be the same. I think you have to create your materials. The material library is just what's in the current drawing. They are easy to create, just hit the new material button, then name it. Go to you maps, under diffuse map select the image. MEP should have loaded a few hundred jpegs of different things. Find where they are on your computer and choose one. Then, you'll have to play around with the scaling to make it look how you want.

Dzatto or anyone else out there,

Thanks for the help, I was able to create a material (stainless steel) and applied it to an item, it worked fine (I need to teak it some more) then I open up a different drawing and the material I had created is not in the list. Does this mean that I have to create the materials every time if in different drawings? Now, here is the next issue. Everywhere I read it talks about some “pre-defined” materials already in the system and in a palette, where can I find them.
