Default Square landing - truely square - control riser line not nosing for step after landing?

    Hi all,

Is there a way to make a truely square landing.
Here's an attached image. It seems like Revit wants to put the first stair after a landing with the nosing line at the end of the previous stair boundary. I'd prefer to have the riser at the stair boundary.

I can't really see it, can you make an image zoomed in closer?

I dont use stairs a LOT, so i havent played with it extensively, but ive never been able to make a square landing. It always had to have a "slight corner" to it, so that it was six sided. (A tiny piece of the corner removed).

I dont stress over it until i get shop drawings, lol...

Here's what I've done for now.

I put a 1/16" jog in the landing for the 1" depth of the riser immediately after the landing. This 1" cuts into the nosing space of the nosing on the low side of the landing.

With lineweight, the anomoly should be barely noticable. If it is, I may be able to linework it out. It shouldn't show in a section through the lower flight. and it will be a couple small lines in a section through the upper flight, which I also hope to be able to linework out.

I'd appreciate it if anyone has the correct method for doing this.

I added stringers. It's completely different and works out nicely if you put the nosing at the low side of the landing, off the landing by the nosing + stringer thickness.

Is it really necessary to be that exact? It'll dimension as square in your plan views, and that's how (hopefully) it will be fabricated.

Aren't we trying to get away from the convention of smudging the technical pen ink on the mylar because it's near deadline and you don't want to draw the detail and the smudge will look like a printing anomaly?

    Watch out guys!

With IPD / BIM in the forefront--the shop dwgs are going to be developed
from the BIM--so we should be getting the model as accurate as possible.

If the guy in the shop can build it, then we should be able to model it! (correctly)

The Owners and Contractors are going to be using the BIM more and more--
so now's the time to get the bugs out!

    cheers.................
