And now it looks like it was a good idea to wait a bit.
Autodesk has pulled the Service Pack, and will repost it after they figure out what's going on with it.

whoops, I already put it onto my computer for testing...
I haven't had any of these issues with this service pack. perhaps I'm lucky.... since it's on 80+ computers now.
We too have seen the issue with surfaces. Autodesk has pulled the update from their web site. I do not recommend installing it at this time.
There are some indications that the problems arise if Autosave is turned on. So you may be OK if you turn off Autosave.
Does Civil 3D hold the record for the world's most advanced software without a reliable autosave?
Also, I have had a problem with the mouse losing focus when the properties window is on, and a civil object is selected and then unselected. This has been since day one of using C3D09. SP2 has not fixed this.

I think it also holds the record for being the world's most advanced software that can't easily put delimiters in numbers (eg 1,000,000 instead of 1000000).
Is anyone having problems with attaching drawings from vault after installing the update? We installed it in a couple of machines and now on those machines we are not able to xref drawings from vault. On other machines that it was not installed on we are able to do it just fine.
