Is it possible to run Revit Architecture 2009 on Windows 2000?
I know that the Autodesk recommendation is Windows XP.
It might work, but for sure not tested or supported.
I dont think NET Framework 3, is compatible with Windows ME.
So after some careful consideration I went ahead and did my own test......And to my surprise Revit Architecture works on Windows 2000. The person using Revit on windows 2000 is just learning and does not seem to be having any problems.
I will let everone know how this ends up!
And yes the plan is to upgrade everone to Windows Vista and 4GB of ram......
I fully agree. In my experience Windows XP is more stable and has less of a footprint than Vista.
I have tested the Windows7 Release Candidate in VMware, and I think it's safe to say that Vista is a transition version. Something to iron out the kinks in new technology while developing more features.
The Release Candidate expires somewhere in August 2009, so I guess the eventual Windows 7 will be released not long afterwards. November at the latest I guess. But then it is a wise decision to wait for a service pack which should make it in time before support on XP ends.
Before then, I don't see anything business critical being released that won't run on both platforms. Windows 7 will be as much different from XP as Windows 98 and as far as I can tell from my limited experience that's a good thing.
