    Default chain Link fence

Does anyone know how to make a chain link fence that also renders? I know how to make one if it is just a cross hatch pattern on a thin wall, What I really would want is a wall that you can see through beyond in an annimation and also see the chain link in front. any ideas? Thanks in advance for the feedback

You can use a material which when rendered is partially transparent. I posted notes on the method way back when. The principal is described over here.....http://forums.augi.com/showthread.ph...ighlight=quick

    Talking Re: chain Link fence

Thank you very much. well here is my first try haha

Ahh I love the smell of chain link in the morning!

Check out the chainlink fencing I did in revit, not to bad shadows sky reflections and all. I have attached the revit model for you to play with at your convenience.

I created this chain link fence as a railing with a panel fill. I assigned to the panel a material with tile. The base is trasparent and the tile is oriented to 45d and 2" spaced.

    cool
that was what I was also doing. one additional step that I did was put a post family in and have it calculate a new post every 10 feet if I stretch the wall out. this worked great on a site fence.

Would you be so kind as to attach the chain link fence you made as a railing? Or, would you please give a detailed explanation of how you did this? I am trying to make my own, but not having much success! Thanks!

Railings are system families and cannot be saved to a file

Unless they paste it into a blank Revit file and post it here, so you can copy and paste into your own file.

But just create a new material using a cross pattern (model pattern) at 45 degrees and make it 100% transparent. The result of that material is that only the model pattern will show. Then use it as a material for your railing.
