Default Linking Cad files in Revit

    Hi,

I'm trying to import my highly detailed Autocad file into revit but I'm finding it a bit tedious. First when I link the file it loses its xref's, second for some reason the sketch boundaries are much wider than the real sketch cousing a view problems.
I'm loosing the view and when I crop or zoom un ut's pretty hard to find the file. I also tried linking the x ref file separatly but it located unacpurent in juxtapose to the main file. Any leads?

Hi there! I've moved this question from the CAD Management forum to the Revit Platform forum, as it will get better answers here.

Also, try scrolling to the bottom of the page to see a feature called 'Similar Threads', which could help you.

    Welcome to the forum,

    Couple of things:

try and simplify the CAD model as much as you can. Large CAD models will impact on performance in Revit and there is a limit to the amount of lines you can import.

Link the file rather than importing it. It keeps things clean in the Revit model.

Embed the xrefs in the cad file first. Purge as much as you can.

If coordinates are not an issue, try keeping everything as close to 0,0 in the CAD model.

Let us know how you get on.
